Bio

Yolanda Rabun is every woman. A wife, mother, business person and artist extraordinaire, the Atlanta native’s biggest challenge is finding downtime between juggling music, acting and legal careers, motivational speaking engagements and family life. It is a convenient challenge Rabun relishes, and considering her energetic personality and vivacious spirit, it is one she overcomes easily. Being on the go is a life Yolanda has become accustomed to since she was a teenager touring and performing as a featured vocalist in Europe and Japan as a member of Northside School of the Arts’, Showbiz Kids, and even working and recording with Isaac Hayes and singing for the President (Reagan) of the United States.

Singing soulfully with power and a natural story-telling instinct, Yolanda Rabun stuns and transforms audiences because Yolanda sings with probing intelligence and passion. Her vocal flexibility and range earn high marks for taste, inventiveness and power. Phrasing is always sophisticated, and she is not afraid of taking risks. Yolanda handles all styles of music, although she favors jazz, across nearly three octaves with sensibilities that stem from years of vocal instrumental performing.

Rabun’s recent TV appearances include UNC-TV’s Black Issues Forum “Living Her Dreams”, and NBC-17’s The Scene. The TRIBE, Durham Herald, Raleigh News & Observer and Independent Weekly are among several papers and magazines that have run feature stories on Yolanda’s unique expressive voice, performances and rising music influence. Yolanda also was featured on Frank Stasio's WUNC North Carolina Public Radio program “The State of the Things". Nancy Wilson, Nina Simone and Gladys Knight are major musical influences of Yolanda Rabun, who capably serves as Corporate Counsel for a Top 10 Forbes Company and has served on many communitybased Executive boards while singing with American Idol’s Clay Aiken and as lead singer for an East Coast-based jazz band. Yolanda exploded on to the scene first on Stanley Baird’s 2007 Traffic Jam hit single, “I Want 2 Love You” that received international radio-play and ranked in Solar Radio’s year- end Top 10 List.

Yolanda has opened for Jennifer Holiday, sang with Howard Hewitt and traveled the world to Japan, South Korea, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and Jordan delivering her sultry blend of smooth jazz and soul. Those experiences opened up the possibilities of international stardom for Yolanda as a composer, producer and arranger, and her fans have confirmed that her time is now.

With the 2011 release of “So Real”, Yolanda Rabun transferred her energetic spirit into her debut CD project, bringing her personal experiences to life for all to listen.
