Bio

Relentless Souls is an eclectic group of well season and talented who are so dedicated to their love of music that they take the time between other commitments, musical and otherwise, to perform together.

The group grew out of the 2012 reunion of high school friends who had played together as “The Avengers” 45 years earlier. Dave Galloway, the only member still actively performing, called on local friends to replace original members who were unable to participate in the reunion. Though “The Avengers” reunion band is still performing, the local guys decided to also perform together as a separate unit.

Bassist and vocalist, Hawk Hamilton has spent most of his career touring with big name country music artists such as Lee Greenwood, David Allen Coe, and Billy Ray Cyrus, but came off the road a few years ago to care for his aging parents. Hawk is also an graphic artist, and a skilled horseman. On lead vocals, cornet, and percussion is Steve Wilkie, originally from Plum Branch, South Carolina. Steve and Dave have played together in several “beach bands” over the last 30 years. While playing in one of those bands, Steve met the love of his life, moved to Anderson, and has been there since. Steve is a successful building contractor and rental property owner by day.

Guitarist and vocalist, David Jones gave up music after high school to race stock cars. Now that he is too old to race, he has returned to music as an outlet. In school he liked to be called “Davy Jones” after the lead singer of the “Monkees”. By day, David invents, builds, and markets numerous forklift accessory devices. Cecil Duncan, our lead guitarist and lead singer, is originally from the tidelands region of Virginia. Cecil is a 40 year veteran of numerous bands and currently performs with “The Flashbacks” and “Big Time Band”, both of the Easley area. Some liken his vocal and guitar styles to those of Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn. By day Cecil is GPS mapping engineer for Greenville County.

Next in the lineup is “Big Tez” Sherard on drums and vocals. By far our youngest and most talented member, Tez performs with many other groups, most notably, Edwin McCain. Music is Tez’s “day job”. Originally from Anderson, Tez and Dave played together in “Still Cruzin” a decade ago. Organizer and reluctant leader of the group, Dave Galloway has played sax for 50 years. He has performed many times with “The Four Tops”, Percy Sledge, Clifford Curry, and Arthur Conley, and has opened for Ike & Tina Turner, Jerry Butter, James Brown, Little Anthony, and many others. Local bands include “Swingin’ Medallions”, “Brasstown Ball”, “Still Cruzin”, and “The Flashbacks”.

Though long on experience, and admittedly “long in tooth”, these Relentless Souls are still very much young at heart. Their performances are sure to delight young and old alike, and will from time to time include guest performers and renditions of current hit songs to surprise the audience.
