Bio
Matt is an active composer, teacher, and guitarist in Greenville, South Carolina. He teaches lessons for guitar, bass, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, and music theory at WatsonWood Music.
He is a founding member of the Greenville Jazz Collective, has played guitar and banjo with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, and guitar, banjo, mandolin, and, yes, even ukulele with the touring Broadway companies for SpamAlot, Legally Blonde, Chicago, and 9 to 5 the Musical, as well as productions for the Greenville Little Theater and Centre Stage in Greenville, SC.
In addition to private lessons, he also teaches guitar classes at Christ Church Episcopal School and for the Explore the Arts program at the Fine Arts Center in Greenville.
Born in Baltimore, Matt grew up in Greenville, began playing the guitar at the age of 11, and started performing professionally at 17. After graduating from the Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC, he attended the University of Miami on scholarship where he received a Bachelor of Music degree in Studio Music and Jazz Performance.
After leaving Miami, he moved to Asheville, NC in 2004 and taught privately at the Asheville School. He moved back to Greenville in 2006.
