House has shared the stage with George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Don Felder (The Eagles), Brandford Marsalis, Taj Mahal, Robert Randoloph and the Family Band, Jimmy Herring Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Grammy award winning drummer Yonrico Scott (Derek Trucks Band), Ike Stubblefield, Jeff Sipe, and many other amazing musicians.

Ethan Burkhardt's training began at 5 years old on the violin which led to joining Earlham College’s orchestra as a Freshman in high school and attending Mark O’Connor’s fiddle camp where he studied with masters Mark O’Connor, Buddy Spicher, Rachel Barton, Darol Anger, and Bobby Hicks.  While attending camp, bassist Victor Wooten showed up to jam and forever changed Burkhardt’s musical trajectory.  He began studying bass heavily and eventually started taking private lessons with Cincinnati’s Rick Vizachero, an International Society of Bassists solo competition winner and member of the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops. The study paid off with a full ride scholarship to Millikin University, Decatur, IL where Burkhardt graduated in 2005 with a degree in Music Business.

After college, Burkhardt accepted a job with leading bluegrass music record label, Pinecastle Records in Columbus, NC (www.pinecastlemusic.com) of which he is now Chief Operating Officer.  He has worked with top names in the industry including The Osborne Brothers (Rocky Top), Grand Ole Opry members Jim & Jesse, and many more.

Musical connections led to Ethan joining wedding band, Soulution (www.soulutionband.com) with Troy House in 2009. House and Burkhardt later joined Mount Royal University (Alberta, CA) professor, Jon Day on tour to Panama in February of 2010.  The group headlined the Boquete Jazz Festival and gave performances and clinics in Panama City.

The forming of Molasses serves as an outlet for their love of instrumental funk groups like The Meters, The New Mastersounds, and Grant Green among others.
